Films Reviewed: Mystic River and Runaway Jury

Commentary: Movies in the courtroom

Featurette: Behind the scenes of Runaway Jury

Regarding Mystic River:

Matt: A good murder mystery that could have been great if Clint Eastwood had not composed the film's score.  It's the same four notes over and over.  Wonderful performances in a real downer of a film.  Still, it is worth seeing.  Three stars.

Aron: Not a film to see on a Friday night, but one that will get you thinking.  Again, great performances all around for Clint's first trip behind the camera (when not acting) in six years.  Three stars as well.

Average Rating: Three stars (out of four)

Regarding Runaway Jury:

Aron: Once you get past the politics of the film, it's a real crackerjack courtroom drama.  Hard to believe this is the first film Dustin Hoffman and Gene Hackman made together.  Three stars.

Matt: I am in complete agreement with Aron.  Also, it was great to see John Cusack playing something other than his lovable, bumbling persona.  It's also my favorite John Grisham adaptation to boot.  Three stars, also.

Average Rating: Three stars (out of four)

Commentary: This movie court will now come to order!  We looked at films in the courtroom.  Examples include To Kill a Mockingbird, Inherit the Wind, My Cousin Vinny, A Few Good Men, The Verdict and A Time to Kill.

Featurette: Behind the scenes of Runaway Jury, starring John Cusack, Gene Hackman, Dustin Hoffman, Rachel Weisz and more actors than we thought possible.
