Films Reviewed: Hidalgo and Dawn of the Dead (2004)

DVD-Tails: Schindler's List

Featurette: Behind the Scenes of Broken Lizard's Club Dread

Regarding Hidalgo:

Matt: Despite the first 40 minutes, I had fun with this old-fashioned adventure yarn.  Viggo Mortensen is now the next big matinee idol, but we recommend something with the ladies for his next film.  Three stars.

Aron: Again, it's quite the old-fashioned adventure.  The horse racing scenes are very well done, and the desert looks quite foreboding.  The horse playing the title character really shines as well.  Three stars

Average Rating: *** (out of ****)

Regarding Dawn of the Dead (2004):

Aron: Somewhere along the course of the film, the movie forgot to be a satire and instead became an action film.  Not that there is anything wrong with that.  Pretty impressive gory stuff here.  Three stars.

Matt: This remake is totally unnecessary.  But if you are going to remake one of the classic zombie films, then this would be the way to do it.  Pay close attention to a TV interview.  Three stars.

Average Rating: *** (out of ****)

DVD-Tails: Schindler's List was released on DVD last week.  Aron and Matt took some time to reflect on their personal experiences seeing the film and discussed some of the special features on this release.

Featurette: Behind the Scenes of Broken Lizard's Club Dread, featuring Bill Paxton as Coconut Pete
