3/2/2004
Films Reviewed: Starsky & Hutch and Eurotrip
Commentary: The 76th Annual Academy Awards: who won and who didn't
Featurette: Behind the scenes of Eurotrip, featuring the music video for "Scotty Doesn't Know"
Regarding Starsky & Hutch:
Matt: An exercise in 1970's style that, for once, remembers to be entertaining. Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson continue their winning streak when they make films together. And Snoop Dogg is Huggy Bear. Three stars.
Aron: I liked it, too. It had a fantastic production design and remembered to make us laugh. The soundtrack was also excellent. A good way to turn a 70's TV show into a feature film. Three stars.
Average Rating: *** (out of ****)
Regarding Eurotrip:
Aron: This is the same trip that the producers of Road Trip and Old School have taken before (incidentally, the director of those two films made Starsky & Hutch). It made me laugh, but it's been done before. Two stars.
Matt: Yeah, the movie is awfully familiar. But it did make me laugh. Out loud. Several times. And I can overlook the familiarity here. The young cast worked well together. Be sure to check out the closing credits! Thee stars.
Average Rating: **1/2 (out of ****)
Commentary: After a quick recap of last week's show, it was determined that Aron went six for six (his first time ever) while Matt had to wear the Oskur Cap just once for missing Best Actor. We were most amused by Jack Black and Will Ferrell presenting the Song Oscar ("Look at Catherine Zeta-Jones; she's snoring!") and Billy Crystal's opening montage (especially Michael Moore in Middle-Earth).
Featurette: Behind the scenes of Eurotrip, featuring the music video for "Scotty Doesn't Know" (and yes, that is Matt Damon singing!)
